Thanks for sharing with us any paper map or shape file that could be used in the context of SALB.
In order to enter the frame of our project, we would may be need to do the following modification on the map you would be able to provide to us:
digitizing of the boundaries in case of a paper or jpeg map,
modification of the limits of some administrative boundaries in case they would not be representative of January 2000 in a first stage and then of any historic changes that would have occurred before or after 2000,
fitting the administrative boundaries into the international borders standard provided by the United Nations,
modification of the attribute table that will contain the administrative units names and the project specific coding scheme
Once this editing work done, the final GIS file will be sent to the National Mapping Agency for validation before being put online on the SALB web site for free non commercial download with proper acknowledgement and copyright of the source data.
4. TECHNICAL SUPPORT
We are always looking for GIS technicians who would be ready to volunteer some editing work following the protocol that has been prepared in the context of the SALB project. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are available.
